The Full Story

“Future Golf Ventures Ltd, is the holding company which wholly owns Swansea Footgolf Ltd and Bath Golf and Footgolf Ltd T/A Royal Victoria Park Golf and Footgolf.

The two directors of Future Golf Ventures Ltd, Roger Maliphant and Rhydian Thomas, have been in business together for over 19 years, initially starting Wales’ first professional golf tour in 2005. The Dragon Tour, for club professionals, expanded over the years, to become the Celtic Pro Tour, with over 36 events being held across courses in Wales, Scotland and Ireland. The tour gained huge exposure on Setanta Sports, Sky Sports, BBC Wales BBC 2 Wales, S4C and Radio Wales Sport from 2006 to 2010.


During this period, Roger Maliphant successfully ran and co-owned a Bistro Café in Swansea, while Rhydian Thomas headed-up the Campaigns, Marketing and Public Affairs of a national education charity, dealing with national press and media. Roger was the Interim Manager of Glynhir Golf Club, Ammanford (2015), where he completed a 4-month consultation period overseeing the installation of the BRS tee booking system, membership renewal period, website creation and establishment of Health and Safety and CASC compliance.

In 2016, both directors then moved into footgolf, after approaching the City and County of Swansea with a bid to run the failing, former pitch and putt course just outside Mumbles. Future Golf Ventures Ltd, has been contracted to run Ashleigh Road Golf Course since May 2016, which they successfully adapted into Swansea’s first Footgolf course. Initial rolling one-year contracts ended in a procurement exercise which resulted in a 10-year contract.

Future Golf Ventures Ltd also earned short-term contracts to manage Footgolf courses in Cyfarthfa Park, Merthyr Tydfil (2017/18) and Ynysangharad Park, Pontypridd (2018/19).

In late 2022, Future Golf Ventures Ltd won the tender to run the former Approach Golf Course in Bath. They converted the 12-hole golf course into a 9-hole footgolf course and alsi kept the other 18-hole golf course for its original purpose. On May 1st 2023, the renamed Royal Victoria Park Golf and Footgolf Course was born, starting with footgolf. 9-holes of golf were opened to the public on 29th July 2023.”
